Best Burgers in Broussard

Almost everyone loves a big, juicy burger, but asking anyone in Broussard who has the best might spark an argument! We recommend trying all of these, at least once, before deciding for yourself. Oh, and these are in alphabetical order to avoid having to pick our own fave!


BURGERSMITH

When you have “burger” in your name, they have to be great, right? Create your own or choose one of these specialty burgers:

  • Ragged Branch Bourbon Burger // These Black Angus are hand selected and fed a mixture of Ragged Branch Bourbon mash. This intense beef flavor is dressed with lettuce, house pickles, onions and Bourbon BBQ sauce.
  • Brisket Burger // This grind blends brisket and chuck for a beefy backyard flavor. Lightly seasoned and served with your choice of toppings.
  • Bison Burger // With twice the protein and half the fat of ground beef, this Colorado grass fed offering is a great choice. Hand-pattied and lightly seasoned, it’s topped with lettuce, tomato, red onion, chipotle mayo and smoked gouda.
  • Filet Burger // A half-pound of melt-in-your-mouth ground tenderloin, lightly seasoned and served with your choice of toppings.

Insider tip: Go ahead and treat yourself to the butter & garlic fries.

Their motto is “Never trust a skinny cook!”, and there is nothing skinny about their burgers. All burgers come fresh with a 7-oz. beef patty, famous sweet bun and fries. You can get a Classic Fat Pat’s, a Patty Melt, a Mile High or a Queso burger, or you can try one of these unique combinations:

  • Peanut Butter Bacon // Creamy honey roasted peanut butter & bacon
  • Tartar // Jalapeno, pepper jack, lettuce, tomato, pickle with homemade tartar sauce
  • Southern Sweet & Spicy // Cream cheese, lettuce, tomato, topped with pepper jelly
  • Festival // Lettuce & tomato topped w/ Jack Miller’s BBQ Sauce
  • Lil’ Daddy // Lettuce, tomato, pickle, Pat’s Sauce, topped with pulled pork and your choice of wing sauce
  • Bae Burger // Lettuce, tomato, bacon, cheddar, Pat’s Sauce, topped with a fried egg

Insider tip: Go when there is live music on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays so you can dance off those extra calories.

You won’t find any fanciful flavor combinations here, just well-seasoned, giant, good old-fashioned burgers made with the same recipe that the family has been using for nearly 50 years. Their recipe is so good, the family has franchised it to other establishments in Texas and Alabama. Choices are simple but tasty: single or double hamburger or cheeseburger, on a bun or in a wrap for the carb conscious.

Insider tip: Spring for the sourdough bun. It’s only $1 and so worth it!


THE POINT SEAFOOD & STEAKHOUSE
They may be known for their seafood, steaks and cocktails, but if you’re looking some crazy-good flavor options in an upscale environment, this is your place. You could get a classic Old Tymer, or check out these beyond the ordinary options:

  • Southside // Pepper jack cheese, crumbled bacon, drizzle of couillion sauce
  • Sweetcheeks // Pepper jack cheese, bacon, grilled jalapenos, sunny-side egg, pepper jelly glaze
  • Pittsburger // Cheddar cheese, coleslaw, fries
  • Hula Girl // pepper jack cheese, grilled pineapple, teriyaki sauce
  • John Dear // Cheddar cheese, bacon, fried egg, creole aioli, served on Texas toast

Insider tip: The Sweet Caroline may be a cocktail, but it makes a perfect dessert – Kahlua, Stoli vanilla vodka, vanilla ice cream, waffle cone rim, chocolate syrup


TON’S DRIVE IN

Now in it’s third generation of being family owned, Ton’s had the first drive thru window in Lafayette, so you know they know how to do a burger right. Their hamburgers and cheeseburgers have a 6-oz. homemade angus patty, or if you are really hungry, the Monster burgers have two of those! You can customize with these options: jalapenos, grilled onions, bacon, fried egg, chili.

Insider tip: Owner Hollie and her husband Roddy grow many of the veggies so toppings and salad fixings are the freshest and most local you can get. Oh and save some room for the meringue-topped bread pudding!

You’ll definitely need two hands for these humongous burgers. In 2012, ESPN named them the #1 Sports Bar in America, so bring your appetite and cheer on your favorite team. Go the classic burger route, create your own, or try one of these specialties, all on a brioche bun:

  • Stuffed // Stuffed with bacon, American, mozzarella, dressed
  • Hickory // Sweet Baby Rays bbq sauce, cheddar, bacon, onion rings, dressed (no red onion)
  • Surf & Turf // Blackened shrimp, caramelized onions, pickled jalapenos, jack, thousand island, pickles
  • Jalapeno Jack // Fried jalapenos, pepper jack, spicy mayo, dressed (no pickles)
  • Hangover // Sunny-side up egg, American, bacon, waffle fries, dressed

Insider tip: Add queso to the Hangover burger to take it over the top.
